It’s been an emotional few weeks. A year ago to this day, my sister waved goodbye to being single and married her fiancé Eduardo in Mazatlan, Mexico. Let me share this with you. To celebrate their wedding day with them, we travelled the 5,490 miles by car, bus, tram and three different aeroplanes for 36 hours, crossing umpteenth time zones and all with 2 kids whilst being six months pregnant! (and breathe I hear you say)! Unlike most going abroad my suitcase wasn’t filled to the brim with summer frocks but with packs of coloured tissue paper! I was in charge of wedding venue decoration and transforming these non de script packs into 30 red, orange and yellow paper pom-poms which we’re to be suspended from lengths of chord hung between Palm trees at the wedding venue. I was also in charge of the wedding flowers.  Vibrant yellow Sunflowers, loud orange Gerberas and bold red Roses were arranged into fresh floral bouquets, buttonholes and wedding venue table arrangements.

My sister looked stunning wearing a fish tail white lace dress accessorised with a shower bouquet and the groom was dapper in a navy suit and a red Rose buttonhole. The bridesmaids were dressed in vivid orange (apart from me as I looked liked I’d been tangoed and was told in no uncertain terms that I looked, and I quote ‘horrendous’ so I opted for a cream ensemble)! and clutched a simple bouquet of Sunflowers.

The bridesmaid held simple sunflower posies on the beach.

The ceremony was beautiful and was held on a small jetty in the ocean at sunset. Fast forward a year and they will be celebrating their first anniversary in Mazatlan as they packed up and moved over there just a few days ago.  As I said, it’s been an emotional few weeks! But although it’s taking a while to get my head around them going, I want to wish these gorgeous individuals all the best and raise a glass to them on this, their first wedding anniversary as husband and wife whist embarking on a new journey together in Mazatlan!
