A flourishing Shropshire florist has extended their program of flower workshops to a new location in Shropshire.
Big Little Things, a florist and gift shop near Shifnal, offer an extensive range of floristry workshops at their base in Norton – but now they are branching out to Shrewsbury with the help of a new pop-up shop.
The new venue is At Nº11, located on Fish Street in Shrewsbury, a pop-up shop offering space for trader and producers to trial ideas and build on an existing or new business.
Francesca Robinson, co-owner of Big Little Things said: “Our floristry workshops have grown and are hugely popular. We hold them within our shop space, at the local village hall in Norton and last year we teamed up with National Trust Dudmaston – as we are again this year.
“Shrewsbury is my home town and I’m often asked about offering flower workshops in Shrewsbury. We struggled to find a workable, centrally located space – until At Nº11 opened and started to offer work space solutions for small businesses like ours.”
The first floristry course is next month onMonday 24th September and is a full day course running from 10am-3pm.
Business partners Sarah Knowles and Francesca Robinson launched Big Little Things in May 2009 offering wedding flowers to Shropshire Brides. The company expanded in October 2015 by opening their shop at Apley Farm Shop, offering flower workshops and selling gift and homeware.
Sarah said: “The flower workshops have grown beyond recognition; the demand is great and it’s wonderful to teach people the skills they need to do it themselves. We offer a variety of floristry courses including Bridal flower workshops, Buttonhole creating, Vintage flower arrangement workshops and of course our hugely popular Summer and Christmas Wreath Workshops. The course we are launching at Nº11 in Shrewsbury is an Introduction to Floristry day course.
“During the day, delegates will learn how to condition and prepare flowers for arranging. We will also give an understanding of how to buy and select the best seasonal flowers. We also do a lot of practical work including creating floral posies and tackling a larger autumnal flower arrangement – all of which you get to take home!”
Jo Hancocks, Founder of At Nº11 added: “We are so excited to have Big Little Things here At Nº11 doing their floristry workshop, our space was created especially for businesses like Big Little Things wanting to trial their business ideas in Shrewsbury.”
The Introduction to Floristry – Autumn course is being held on Monday 24th September 2018 from 10am, booking is essential.
